Knowing Who YOU Are [video]
Oprah and First Lady Michelle Obama
—- I didn’t think I had time to listen to this video. —–
I have a lot of things to do today. You know what I mean?
I am so glad I took the time….You will find the entire video at the bottom of this post.
I am summarizing a few of the things that impacted me the most and was the most relevant to our conversation at this site.
Knowing Who You Are
Michelle shared her “secret sauce” for confidence. She says self acceptance begins when you really, truly know who you are. When you recognize your own amazing self, you can take on any challenge to your uniqueness. When you truly understand how awesome you are, it is not a matter of being brave. It is simply a matter of standing in your own value and looking for ways to truly impact the world you live in each day.
Continue the Work
One Thing to remember – we can never be complacent because the work goes on. Be vigilant, know our history, continue the work. It’s not what people say about you, it is what you do. What are you going to change? How are you going to empower yourself. This is how she answered when asked by Oprah what is the one takeaway from the United State of Women conference (where the interview took place.)
“My hope is that people leave here inspired and ready to do something. Again, remember, it’s not what people say about you, it’s what you do. So the question is what are you going to do? How are you going to be better?”
I want to thank the people at Ellevate and the United State of Women Summit 2016 for all the work they did to create such a dynamic, powerful and elevating program to look at the state of women in America.
Take the time to watch this video. Or do like me. I put videos like this playing at a loud volume while I am moving around doing other tasks. It gives me the value of what is being said without me having to stop all the other stuff demanding my time. However you choose to enjoy the words of these two wonderful women – just take the time. It is well worth it.
